Choosing the undergraduate or post graduate program of your choice has become much easier with a variety of options on hand. Students looking for only high salaries without knowing what the job demands, end up without job satisfaction. They cannot change jobs if they do not have expertise in more than one domain. This leads to frustration. This all begins with the choice of a wrong course in the college.
If you do not follow your interest in choosing your academics, you will often end up dejected in your career. If you have a flair for languages, you can choose journalism or literature.
Today's research involves a combination of two or more subjects such as Physics, Computers, Astronomy, Biology and Chemistry.
1. Bio Informatics is a bridge between Molecular biology and Computer science. This is offered at post graduate level.
2. Astrophysics is what combines Physics with Astronomy. Some Universities and Public institutes offer this course for PhD-level and integrated MSc courses.
3. Biotechnology amalgamates Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Fermentation technology. The application of technology to biological processes spans fields such as medicine, agriculture, pollution control and forensic sciences. Research in medicinal biotechnology has lead to the development of contact lenses for glaucoma patients, spit tests to detect oral cancer non-invasively.
A science degree prepares you for a wide gamut of careers. For instance you may be surprised to find science students, who specialize in complex dynamics and parameter problems at advanced levels, work even as financial managers.

Although, this website is dedicated by Sunil to help you all to succeed in competitive exams, the advice and references on soft skills provided on this page goes beyond that.  The primary objective for this is to help visualize career development beyond the exams.  This exercise will fortify the determination to succeed, reduce anxiety and fear of failure leading to hope and a positive mind-set.
We all have grown up learning about various leaders and freedom fighters.  This learning was primarily focused on understanding the positive changes brought about in our society by determination, principles and sacrifice of the leaders led by Mahatma Gandhi.  Mahatma’s principles have been used in the past by leaders in other continents such as Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King.  In the 21st century, these principles are being viewed from the perspective of a business leader.  After having spent more than 25 years in my profession as an engineer, I found this perspective extremely interesting, refreshing and validating some experiences. Now what has this got to do with your studies and preparation for exams?  Not much directly…except to give some perspectives on how business leaders are expected to think and where do they draw their inspiration.
Excerpts from “Gandhi CEO” by Alan Axelrod
Principle 1: Deciding
1. Put a face on policy (Whenever you are in doubt… apply the following test.) 2. Get ready to be a lonely leader (It is a superstition and ungodly thing to believe that an act of a majority binds a minority.) 3. Embrace transparency (Nothing … should be done secretly. This is an open rebellion. In this secrecy is a sin.) 4. Define your no compromise zones (I am an uncompromising opponent of violent methods even to serve the noblest of causes. There is, therefore, really no meeting ground between the school of violence and myself.) 5. Cultivate the courage of conviction (For the last twenty years we have tried to learn not to lose courage even when we are in a hopeless minority and are laughed at. We have learned to hold on to our beliefs in the confidence that we are in the right.) 6. Make time your ally

The explanation is based on  photoelectric effect and formation of a standing wave.
The researchers took a metal nanowire and aimed a pulse of light on it. This energized the electrons and made them vibrate. The pulse of light traveling in the opposite directions in the wire produced a standing wave of light.  This standing wave behaved like a light source for the experiment. Once the standing wave was achieved a stream of electrons was shot close to the wire. The electrons interacted with light on the nanowire and either sped up or slowed down. An ultrafast microscope allowed the scientist to photograph these changes in speed and position and allowed them to see the standing wave which is a finger print of wave nature of light. It also revealed the particle properties of light by showing an energy exchange between photons and electrons.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is a prestigious group of autonomous engineering and management institutes of India. They are declared as "institutions of national importance". There are sixteen institutes located at Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Mandi, Mumbai, Patna, Ropar, Roorkee and Varanasi. Each IIT is an autonomous institution, linked to the others through a common IIT Council, which oversees their administration. The IITs award degrees ranging from B.Tech to PhD.

The IITs have a common admission process for undergraduate admissions. It was called IIT-JEE, which was replaced by Joint Entrance Examination in 2013. The post-graduate level program that awards M.Tech degree in engineering is administered by the older IITs (Kharagpur, Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Delhi, Roorkee, Varanasi, Guwahati). M.Tech admission is done on the basis of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). In addition to B.Tech and M.Tech programs IITs also award other graduate degrees such as M.Sc in Engineering, Maths, Physics and Chemistry, MBA, PhD etc. Admission to these programs of IITs is done through Common Admission Test(CAT), Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) and Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED).

Pop corn, for most of us, may be just a fun food but for a couple of French investigators pop corn is a biomechanical enigma waiting to be explained.

Cameras recording 2900 frames per second showed what happens with a kernel of corn before it pops. When the temperature reaches 1000C the moisture inside starts turning into steam and at 1800C the pressure inside becomes 10 times the atmospheric at sea level. Unable to withstand this stress, the shell breaks open. The first thing to come out from the fractured shell is a limb like thing that comes in contact with the surface of the pan and begins to compress under the heat. Tensed and then released, the "leg" causes the corn to leap up and emit a 'pop' from the sudden release of water vapour. A few milliseconds later the granules spewing from inside expand to form a spongy flake.
From fracture to flake takes less than 90 milliseconds.
The popcorn's leap results from a combination of thermodynamics and fracture mechanics rather than just blast of pent-up gases.
